There is a local tanning salon advertising that one of the benefits of using their tanning beds is that it will promote the production of vitamin D the same way natural sun exposure does. I’ve never heard of this. Is this true or a false advertising claim?

Is time of day important for synthesizing vitamin D from sunlight?

I have low vitamin D levels and need to start staying in the sun more. The problem is that I have very fair skin and can’t tolerate full sun exposure during the middle of the day in the summer. Is early morning sun or late afternoon/evening sunlight sufficient?

Vitamin D Functions and Natural Sources – Need Behind This Vitamin
